MARIA CABAÑAS's Story

"I’ve been running marathons for 2 years now, and CEP has been with me every step of the way."

When I first started running, I did a lot of research on sneakers and socks, since I seemed to always have pain in my feet while running, even if it was a short distance.

When I learned about CEP and read reviews, I decided to give them a try, and they were wonderful! I had finally found a shoe and sock combo that didn’t hurt my feet and that made me feel great no matter what distance that I was running.

While training for my first marathon, I wasn’t sure if I would continue running distance after it was all over, but the feelings I experienced during my first 26.2, were beyond anything I had ever imagined.

I’ve since run 9 marathons, and they have all been a different experience, mixed with the lows and highs of emotion.

My favorite marathon is Boston. I haven’t run any other race that is quite like those streets. Home for me is Massachusetts, so being able to run such a historic race in my home state is completely a joyous occasion.

What motivates me to keep running, training, and moving, is discipline. Motivation is a fickle feeling and emotion and it has never lasted long for me. But by not allowing myself to have a choice in a run or workout, and disciplining myself to do it no matter how I feel, has been a great accomplishment.

Marathons have never gotten easier for me, as I had originally thought that they would. They are always a physical and mental challenge, and I am exhausted after each one. This is one of the many reasons why I love them, they remind me of life, and I never really quite know what to expect.
