SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Medi is a business rooted in healthcare, so giving back is something that comes naturally and is a priority. This is something we demonstrate not only through support for our employees and their families, but through the support of social institutions and projects around the world.
Our medi headquarter in Bayreuth, Germany has teamed up with the organization, Diakonie, where we help provide aid to people with disabilities or illness, to children and families, to immigrants and their families, and to those struggling with addiction or those otherwise disadvantaged. We are proud to work with an organization who stands for those in need.
The nonprojit organization Medi For Help was also founded to lend sustainable assistance to people and communities in crisis areas by providing improvements in clinical care, medical training, and education. Medi For Help has raised funds and provided support in Haiti for various projects such as rehabilitation and wound care, developed clinics for Lymphatic Filariasis, and obtained labs for orthopedic and prosthetics, and more.

OEKO-TEX® CERTIFICATION
Starting in 1997 all medi products underwent testing for the Oeko-Tex Standard 100. With this certification, you can be certain our products are made exclusively with safe materials, and without harmful dyes or other substances. The testing processes takes into account numerous regulated and non-regulated substances that may be harmful to human health. The test is employed regularly to ensure that each product satisfies every aspect in the comprehensive catalog of criteria- This is reassessed annually and expanded with new scientific knowledge and statutory requirements. With this test we can be confident we are producing products that are skin-friendly, and kind to the environment.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY COLORANTS AND YARNS
With the OEKO-TEX® label, you can be certain we use selected colorants that are low in harmful substances to dye our products. All of our dyes can be safely released into the wastewater system, as they do not require a special waste disposal procedure. By using these selected dyes and colorants, medi makes a significant contribution to avoiding environmentally-damaging waste disposal processes.
WATER & HEAT CONSERVATION
Following the dye process of our products, extra colorant must be rinsed away with warm water. In order to do this, the water must be heated for each new batch. To avoid unnecessary energy and water use, medi uses a heat recovery system. This system takes fresh, cold water and heats it by the residual heat of the outgoing water. This saves resources by using less gas for heating the water daily.
Our products also need to be rinsed before they are ready for packaging. Medi uses the lowest amount of water possible for each rinse procedure, as well as recycles the steam used through our boiler to be reused through the process, thus significantly reducing our water use.
FSC-CERTIFIED / RECYCLED PACKAGING
It’s no secret that packaging made from plastic is damaging to our environment. To avoid this damage CEP uses packaging made almost exclusively from FSC certified cardboard. FSC certification ensures that our packaging comes from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economical benefits.
We are taking the steps to ensure that all CEP packaging is made from recycled materials going into 2023.
MADE IN GERMANY & USA
While most of our products are manufactured in our privately-owned facilities out of Bayreuth, Germany, top-selling products for the American market are produced in Whitsett, North Carolina at our medi USA headquarter. Packaging is also locally sourced out of North Carolina.
With this, we keep transportation to a minimum and save on the harmful emissions that long distance outsourcing can cause. We pride ourselves on supporting domestic businesses, with an emphasis on local businesses and the jobs they create.
RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES
Beginning in 2013, medi Germany installed solar panels to generate all of its power. This system converts sunlight to electrical power, allowing us to be more energy efficient. Parts of medi's production is powered by this renewable energy source to save electricity.
REDUCED MICROPLASTIC
At medi we take the necessary steps to prevent microplastic from ending up in our water ecosystem. Microplastics are everywhere, and are dangerous and harmful to our environment. Taking these steps to prevent microplastics from going into our environment is another way medi does it's part to reduce the accumulation in nature.
By using filament-fibers, which are less prone to breaking than the commonly used s-fiber, we reduce the amount of microplastics ending up in our water system during the rinsing and washing process. Also, we engage in careful and responsible production practices to avoid overexerting the materials during the manufacturing process.
INCREASED DURABILITY
Durability is always an important feature of our products, not just for practical advantages, but also for economical and environmental benefits. Medi puts a focus on creating products that are as durable as possible. The high-quality and careful manufacturing of our products leads to an increase of longevity.
This benefits us, our customers, and the environment greatly, as CEP socks maintain their high-performance properties over a longer period of time than a comparable product from our competitors. The longer a single product lasts, the more time the environment has to recover the materials used to create it.
SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS
We are taking necessary steps to develop more sustainable products. Putting a large focus on making performance products sustainable through the use of bio-based materials and recycled materials.
Paving the way for our sustainable future is The Trashless Compression Sock.
